The Swimming Federation of India organized the 36th National Aquatic Championship at Bangalore in 1979. In one of the Swimming events, a dispute on records took place and lot of heat and controversies were generated. Mr. Sanjay Gandhi happened to be there as one of the guest there. Mr. Gandhi did not like the unwanted scene at that place and he simply asked the officials, if they managed written records or not. That day Mr. V.K. Pahuja decided to work on making proper written documents of records which could be known to all the participants, coaches and officials. He made up his mind on working on the idea of Mr. Sanjay Gandhi of maintaining proper records for the Federation, so that disputes like that don’t occur again.

As the true lover of Swimming, he was determined to work hard and devote himself to work towards this tough task. He made up his mind to prepare and present the First copy to Sh. Sanjay Gandhi but destiny played a different role. Unfortunately, Sh. Sanjay Gandhi died on 23rd June’1980 on the same day, he had taken appointment to show him the work he had done on this project.

The man who gave Mr. Pahuja the idea was no more to admire his solo efforts. He decided to dedicate this Swimming Statistical Bulletin to the Youth of India in the memory of Late. Sh. Sanjay Gandhi. This is brought every year on the death anniversary of Late Sh. Sanjay Gandhi, as a tribute to a Friend, Philosopher and Guide.

Now the Swimming Statistical Bulletin (the only one of its kind throughout the country) has completed its Silver Jubilee ( 25th issue )  a long way . The entire country’s Aquatic World looks forward for the new issue, which is on good demand throughout the country. All Aquatic Meets function smoothly with it.

Keeping in view Mr.Pahuja’s dedicated and unique work on Swimming Statistics in India, he was appointed as a member of  the International Swimming Statistician Association, a World body with its Headquarter  in Canada, which compiles the Swimming Statistics for the world body  ( FINA) .
